"O" - CIRQUE DU SOLEIL
Earth, air, fire, and water- the elements of life are the elements of "O", Cirque du Soleil's semi-submerged symphony of human bodies in motion. Consistent with all the Cirque productions, "O" showcases the incredible abilities of its performers, set in a fantastical environment and woven into a compelling storyline. However, unique to "O" is the fact that portions of the show actually do occur submerged in a 1.5 million gallon pool of water.
The international cast of "O" is 85 strong and includes synchronized swimmers, divers, contortionists, and acrobats. While executing incredible feats of strength, balance, and flexibility, these performers act as representations of the four natural elements as well as a synthesis between them. Synchronized swimmers emerge from the pool in flawless unison, divers schooled in both exhibition and cliff diving plummet from 60 foot tall boards, and fire throwers perform ritualistic dances reminiscent of those found in Hawaiian and Samoan cultures.
The preciosity of these acts is juxtaposed by the seeming enormity of the show's scenery. Changing from forest to body of water to fiery abyss, it continuously projects a sense of infinite space.
Whether you're craving high-flying adventure, thought provoking spectacles, or ethereal beauty, "O" is sure to satisy above and beyond all of your expectations.
