PENN AND TELLER
By Kristine Gregorian
This dynamic duo, having performed together for over thirty years, describe themselves as "a couple of eccentric guys who have learned how to do a few cool things", but their show goes way beyond such a modest claim. Combining their talents and incorporating magic tricks, comedy, juggling and good old fashioned sarcasm, Penn and Teller put on a truly singular performance thats not easily forgotten.
Expect to see escape tricks, knife juggling, and fire eating, accompanied by Penn's continuous monologue of quick-witted remarks, hilariously twisted social commentary and yes, explanations of the actual magic tricks being performed. (Contrary to any logical assumption, this last detail does not in fact detract from the tricks themselves). One secret the two certainly do not reveal is how they manage to simultaneously shoot each other in the face, catching their respective bullets in their mouths.
A magic show for the intellectual who isn't afraid of a little humor in "bad taste" is essentially what the Penn and Teller show is. It thoroughly entertains, yet leaves one to wonder, "what the #%*@ did I just watch?!!"
